Pacific Scholarship

Up to five scholarships available | Applications close 20 February 2026

This scholarship supports delegates from South Pacific Island nations by providing:

  • Free full symposium registration
  • 6 nights accommodation
  • NZ$2,000 towards economy flights.

Please include the following with your application:

  • A 500-word statement outlining your need for financial support to attend ICRS 2026. The statement should also describe the benefits of attending the symposium - both for your personal and professional development, and for the wider community, organisation, or field you represent.

Minderoo Foundation Indian Ocean Fellowship

One fellowship available | Applications close 20 February 2026

This fellowship supports one delegate from Indian Ocean developing nations by providing:

  • Free full symposium registration
  • 5 nights accommodation
  • NZ$1,000 towards economy flights.

Please include the following with your application:

  • A 500-word statement outlining your need for financial support to attend ICRS 2026. The statement should also describe the benefits of attending the symposium - both for your personal and professional development, and for the wider community, organisation, or field you represent.

ICRS Awards

Several annual awards from the International Coral Reef Society (ICRS) include cash benefits that can be used to support attendance at the International Coral Reef Symposium 2026.

The Darwin Medal (due 15 December 2025) provides travel support for the recipient to deliver a keynote address.

The John Ogden Presidential Meeting Attendance Award (due 15 February 2026) offers funding for individuals from low-or middle-income nations to attend ICRS 2026.

Additional awards that may be used at the recipient’s discretion to offset costs of attending ICRS 2026 (all due 15 February 2026) include:

  • World Reef Award – $2,500

  • Coral Reef Conservation Award – $2,500

  • Science Communication Fellowship – $2,000

  • Ruth Gates Awards – two available, $5,000 each
