Call for abstracts

We are excited to invite you to participate in the 16th International Coral Reef Symposium, taking place in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand, 19–24th July 2026.

We are pleased to announce that the call for abstracts is now open. Submissions are invited under the approved sessions, each aligned with one of the eight broad Symposium themes.

Submission deadline: EXTENDED Monday 8 December 2025, 11.59pm (New Zealand time).

During the review process, abstracts will be considered for one of the following presentation formats:

  • Oral presentations (15 minutes, including Q&A)
  • Speed talks (5 minutes)
  • Posters

Each submission should include a 300-word abstract (plain text) and all contributing authors and affiliation details. Submissions will be reviewed by the session chair and co-chairs, with final selection based, in part, on alignment with the overall Symposium themes.

We strongly encourage submissions from delegates in developing nations, as we aim to foster a diverse and inclusive programme.

We look forward to receiving your abstract and to your participation in what promises to be an inspiring and impactful Symposium.

Note: You are welcome to submit more than one abstract, provided each covers a different topic. While we will do our best to mitigate scheduling conflicts, we cannot guarantee there won’t be any clashes.
