Prof Christina Hicks

Professor Christina Hicks is an interdisciplinary social scientist and marine conservationist at Lancaster University. Christina’s research focuses on three key areas: 1) fisheries governance and marine conservation; 2) food justice and nutrition; and 3) the politics of fisheries finance. Christina gained her PhD from the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University, Australia, and held an early career fellowship at Stanford University’s Centre for Ocean Solutions, USA, before moving to Lancaster University in the UK. Christina is a Pew Fellow in Marine Conservation, a Phillip Leverhulme Prize winner, and RGS Gill Memorial awardee. She is on the Leadership Team of the EAT-Lancet Commission on Healthy, Sustainable, and Just Food Systems, on the Board of Directors of Oceana, and the Scientific Advisory Board of the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Global Fishing Watch.
